With Eidul Fitr just days away, outsiders in Lahore and Karachi are once again raising concerns over the increase in transportation fares, a recurring issue that plagues travellers annually during the holiday season.
The influx of outsiders returning from Lahore and Karachi to their hometowns has initiated, with many experiencing the rush at bus stands as they attempt to catch a bus before Eid.
Passengers have voiced their grievances regarding the exorbitant fares being charged by transporters, with reports indicating that fares have surged by amounts ranging from Rs200 to a maximum of Rs500 above the standard rates.
The complaints highlight the challenges faced by travellers during this time of heightened demand, as transporters exploit the surge in passengers to inflate prices unfairly. On the other hand, the checking teams of the district administration and the Regional Transport Authority are nowhere to be seen.
Such practices not only inconvenience passengers but also tarnish the reputation of the transportation sector, undermining trust and goodwill among customers.
