The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has urged its citizens to witness the Shawwal moon on April 8 and submit their testimonies.
A meeting is scheduled to be convened tonight to search for the crescent moon, signalling the start of the month of Shawwal.
All the Muslims in the Kingdom are encouraged to take part in the Shawwal moon sighting on Monday evening by the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia. To those, who can sight the crescent moon with naked eye or through binoculars, the court has asked them to come to the closest court to testify.
In addition, the Supreme Court has encouraged people, who were able to witness the crescent sighting, to become members of the committees that have been set up in different areas to help with the process.

However, astronomers have voiced scepticism about the likelihood of spotting the moon due to various astronomical factors. According to astronomy experts, the chances of sighting the Shawwal moon tonight in Saudi Arabia are slim.
This assessment has raised the possibility that tomorrow, April 9, could mark the 30 days of Ramazan, leading to the conclusion that April 10 will be the first day of Shawwal and of Eidul Fitr.
Moreover, Saudi Arabia has announced paid holidays for public and private sector workers in observance of Eidul Fitr. The paid holidays span six days, starting on Monday, April 8, and ending on Saturday, April 13.

On the other hand, the countries that started celebrating Ramazan on March 12, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Oman, Jordan, Libya, and Morocco, will observe crescent-sighting on Tuesday, April 9, which is the 29th day of Ramazan.
