Security agencies in Punjab have identified and mapped over 25,000 individuals associated with various banned organizations operating within the province.
According to security sources, surveillance of these individuals has commenced as part of efforts to enhance security measures and prevent potential terrorist activities.
The counter-terrorism report reveals that out of the identified individuals, 8,926 are affiliated with one specific banned organization. Additionally, the report highlights that 968 individuals exhibit an agenda and mindset aligned with the banned terrorist group, the Islamic State or Daesh.
Furthermore, mapping efforts have also targeted 397 individuals associated with the banned terrorist organization, al-Qaeda.
Among those mapped, 1,470 individuals are linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and are involved in various facilitation roles, including providing financial support within the province.
The mapping report extends beyond terrorist organizations to include individuals associated with various religious parties. Security sources emphasized that this comprehensive approach aims to address all potential sources of extremism and terrorism within Punjab.
Following the completion of the Counter-Terrorism Mapping Report, security officials have forwarded the findings to the Punjab government for further action.
