Former prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has been released from Adiala Jail.
The release occurred amid dramatic scenes as police officials attempted to arrest him again at Gate 3 of the prison. However, the efforts to re-arrest Ilyas were thwarted by his supporters.
According to witnesses, a group of Tanveer Ilyas's supporters had gathered outside the jail to welcome him upon his release. When police officials tried to detain him again, the supporters quickly intervened, preventing the arrest. They quickly escorted him into a car and departed from the jail premises, successfully evading the police.

Ilyas was arrested by the Margalla Police in Islamabad on May 20. According to a police spokesperson, Ilyas was taken into custody after a case was registered against him at the Margalla Police Station.
Police officials stated that Ilyas had been charged with six serious offences, including attacking a private company's office. The spokesperson confirmed the arrest, saying Ilyas was arrested after a thorough investigation and legal proceedings.
The development comes after a case was filed against Ilyas, alleging his involvement in the attack on a private company's office.
