The Punjab Home Department has issued instructions regarding the arrangements and restrictions for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festivities.
According to the instructions, only organizations registered with the Charity Commission will be allowed to collect sacrificial animal hides. Banned organizations are strictly barred from this activity. Moreover, Section 144, which prohibits public assembly and certain activities, will be enforced to restrict the burning of animal heads and trotters in public places.
Safety measures during Eid holidays
Bathing and boating in rivers, streams, and dams will be prohibited during the Eid holidays to ensure public safety, as well as the temporary installed mechanical swings. Throwing animal waste and offal into manholes or canals would also be banned under Section 144.
The Home Department has directed officials to ensure robust security arrangements at prayer grounds, mosques, and madressahs across the province. Similarly, heightened security measures will be implemented at all cattle markets throughout Punjab to prevent any untoward incidents.
The administration has been instructed to crack down on illegal cattle markets and ensure no commission or extortion is charged within the legal markets. Special security arrangements will be in place for tourists going to Murree and Galiyat, along with measures to manage traffic flow in these tourist destinations.
The home secretary has directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to hold meetings with police and other relevant departments to finalize arrangements and ensure smooth Eid celebrations across Punjab.
