Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Omar Ayub has reiterated his commitment to securing the release of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), if talks between the government and political parties commence.
In an exclusive interview with SAMAA TV, he said that they eagerly await the day when Imran Khan will come to the Assembly, not only to lead the opposition but also to occupy the Prime Minister's chair.
He mentioned that the party is awaiting the PTI founder’s letter, and once the dialogue starts, their priority will be to secure Imran Khan’s release first, followed by other political detainees.
The opposition leader condemned the recent arrest and re-arrest of Amjad Khan, a PTI leader, and criticized the police for preventing him and other party members from entering the anti-terrorism court in Sargodha.
The opposition leader alleged that the court was being held “hostage” and that the bail cancellation was unjustified. He expressed his determination to continue fighting for the rights of PTI leaders and workers, despite the challenges they face.
Recently, the Anti-Terrorism Court in Sargodha dismissed bail for several PTI leaders, including Omar Ayub, leading to attempted arrests by the police, which were prevented by workers' presence.
