Five soldiers were martyred on Friday in a landmine blast that ripped through Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on the security forces vehicle in the district’s general area Sadda.
The martyred soldiers include Havildar Aqeel Ahmed (33) from Okara, Lance Naik Muhammad Tafeer (30) from Poonch, Sepoy Anosh Rufun (24) from Attock, Sepoy Muhammad Azam Khan (26) from Haripur, and Sepoy Haroon William (29) from Islamabad Capital Territory.
The military’s media wing stated that the area is being sanitized to eliminate any remaining terrorists, and assured that those responsible for this cowardly act will be apprehended and brought to justice.
“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” it added.
Minister offers condolences
Federal Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, expressed his deep regret over the loss of these young men. He offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs, highlighting the immense sacrifices they made for the nation's security.
“The bravery and dedication of our security forces will never be forgotten,” Minister Naqvi said. “Their unwavering commitment to safeguarding Pakistan serves as a shining example for all. We, as a nation, remain resolute in our fight to eradicate terrorism completely.”
