Bill Gates - Chairman of the Bill Gates Foundation - pledged steadfast support during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other officials of the National Task Force.
Highlighting the importance of collective efforts in tackling the persistent challenge of polio, Bill Gates praised Pakistan's commitment and progress in recent months.
"We must work diligently over the next six months," Gates emphasised, stressing the urgency of the mission to achieve complete eradication of polio from Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government's resolve to utilize all available resources in collaboration with provincial authorities to achieve this ambitious goal.
"Pakistan acknowledges and values the partnership with the Bill Gates Foundation," he affirmed, citing the foundation's pivotal role in advancing healthcare initiatives across the country.
The meeting, which included discussions on the impact of cross-border movements on polio transmission, underscored the need for a coordinated strategy involving comprehensive vaccination campaigns and strengthened surveillance measures.
Bill Gates also highlighted ongoing projects in Pakistan's health sector, including a priority digitization initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery systems.
He expressed confidence in Pakistan's ability to overcome the remaining challenges in polio eradication with sustained commitment and international cooperation.
