Karachi will observe a public holiday tomorrow (Saturday) to mark the Urs (death anniversary) of the revered Sufi saint, Abdullah Shah Ghazi.
Mayor Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, announced that all offices within the jurisdiction of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will remain closed on this occasion, except those providing essential services.
The decision to declare the public holiday was made through a resolution passed by the council of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
Abdullah Shah Ghazi, a prominent figure in Sufi Islam, is widely venerated in Karachi for his spiritual teachings and blessings. His Urs is a significant event for devotees who visit his shrine to pay their respects and seek blessings.
The holiday aims to facilitate public participation in the commemoration and honor the spiritual legacy of the saint.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab emphasized the importance of cultural and religious observances in Karachi’s diverse community, encouraging residents to observe the Urs with reverence and respect.
