India’s star batsman, Virat Kohli, has announced his retirement from T20 Internationals following India's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 final.
India secured their second T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in a thrilling final, thanks to a brilliant innings from Virat Kohli.
India, having won the toss, opted to bat first in Bridgetown, Barbados. Despite losing early wickets, including captain Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant, Kohli's resilient 76 runs anchored the team to a total of 176 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
South Africa, chasing 177 runs, fell short by 8 runs, scoring 169. Early dismissals and a disciplined bowling performance from India, particularly Jasprit Bumrah's economical overs, kept the pressure on the Proteas.
Kohli was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance. During the post-match presentation, Kohli confirmed that the final was his last T20 match for India.
