The Accountability Court of Islamabad has granted bail to Bushra Bibi in the £190 million reference case her and her husband, former prime minister Imran Khan.
The bail application was approved by Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich, who subsequently adjourned further proceedings in the case until July 5.
During the hearing, lawyers representing the suspect cross-examined three prosecution witnesses, marking the completion of cross-examination for 27 witnesses involved in the reference.
Responding to queries about Bushra Bibi's status, the deputy prosecutor general clarified that no arrest warrant has been issued for her by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, adding that her arrest was not required.
Sardar Muzaffar, the deputy prosecutor general, emphasized that the effectiveness of a bail application hinges on the issuance of an arrest warrant.
"When an arrest warrant has not been issued, the bail application is ineffective," he stated. He underscored that the current situation aligns with his past positions, asserting that no warrant was sought for Bushra Bibi's arrest even 10 months prior.
