The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted more rain for Karachi tomorrow (Tuesday) following the city’s first significant downpour on Monday, which brought relief from weeks of sweltering heat.
According to the latest weather update, intermittent showers are expected in Karachi and various parts of Sindh today and tomorrow, while heavy falls are predicted in the upper and central parts of the country starting July 10.
Despite scattered downpours in the upper and central regions, the weather across Pakistan has remained predominantly humid. However, the ongoing monsoon activity is anticipated to impact the weather significantly in the coming days.
The PMD stated, "More monsoon currents are likely to penetrate from the Arabian Sea into the upper parts of the country from July 10."

Kashmir Region: From July 10 to 16, areas such as Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur are expected to experience intermittent rain with wind and thundershowers, including isolated heavy falls.

Punjab: Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, and various districts including Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, and others will see thundershowers with isolated heavy falls from the evening of July 10 till July 15, with occasional breaks. Southern Punjab areas like Bahawalpur, Multan, and Rahim Yar Khan will experience rain from July 12 to 14.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Regions including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, and others are forecasted to have thundershowers with isolated heavy falls from July 11 to 15, with gaps.

Balochistan: Eastern parts including Khuzdar, Kalat, and Ziarat will experience rain with wind, thunder, and lightning today and tomorrow (July 8-9), with a return of showers on July 12 to 14.

Sindh: Besides Karachi, areas like Jacobabad, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Dadu, and others are expected to see rain with wind and thunder today and tomorrow, with the wet spell returning on July 12 and 13.

Gilgit-Baltistan: Predicted to have partly cloudy to cloudy weather, with rainfall activity in areas like Diamir, Astore, Skardu, and Gilgit from July 11 to 15, with occasional breaks.
Possible impacts and advisory:
The PMD has warned of increased inflows in local nullahs and streams of Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, and Kashmir from July 12 to 14, and there is a possibility of urban flooding in low-lying areas of northeastern Punjab. Landslides may disrupt roads in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan during the rain spell.
The PMD has advised farmers to plan their activities accordingly and urged travelers and tourists to exercise caution to avoid any untoward situations. Concerned authorities have been directed to remain vigilant and take necessary measures to prevent any adverse effects during the wet spell.
Karachi enjoys respite
Karachi residents experienced a pleasant change in weather on Monday afternoon with the season’s first monsoon shower. Areas such as Surjani Town, Malir Memon Goth, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Nazimabad, and North Nazimabad received rain, bringing much-needed relief from the persistent heat. Drizzle was also reported in parts of II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, and Old City areas, ending the prolonged heatwave that had gripped the city.
