Karachi residents are experiencing a surge in temperatures as the sea breeze weakens, exacerbating the city's summer heat.
According to the Met Department, Karachi is set to endure hot and humid conditions today, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 37 degrees Celsius.
The city recorded a minimum temperature of 30.4 degrees Celsius earlier today, accompanied by low-speed north-westerly winds.
Meteorologists attribute the rising heat intensity to a low-pressure system, which is predicted to further elevate temperatures over the next two days. Tuesday and Wednesday could see maximum temperatures soaring to 38-39 degrees Celsius, warns the department.
"The increase in humidity levels is contributing to the intensified heat being felt across Karachi," stated Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz. He emphasized that the absence of sea winds over the next two days will exacerbate the heat conditions in the city, but dispelled concerns of an imminent heat wave. "The temperature will increase in the city from today."

As Karachi prepares for hotter days ahead, Sarfaraz highlighted that temperatures could climb to 38-39 degrees Celsius by mid-week. He noted that the intensity of heat will increase in Karachi under low pressure from Rajasthan, India.
He noted that relief might come later in the form of monsoon winds expected to re-enter Karachi around July 18, potentially bringing much-needed respite from the scorching heat.
"Incoming monsoon activity could bring heavy rainfall to Karachi starting from July 20," Sarfraz added, hinting at a potential shift from the current heatwave-like conditions to cooler, wetter weather.
