Sri Lankan cricketer Praveen Jayawickrama faces serious charges from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching its anti-corruption code.

According to the ICC, Jayawickrama reportedly deleted incriminating messages related to the match-fixing attempts. He has been given a 14-day window, starting from August 6, 2024, to respond to the charges.
Jayawickrama made his international debut in a Test match against Bangladesh in 2021, where he impressed with 25 wickets in just five matches. He has also represented Sri Lanka in five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and five T20 Internationals (T20Is). During the 2021 LPL, he was a key member of the Jaffna Kings team, contributing to their tournament victory.
This development has cast a shadow over Jayawickrama’s promising career, as the cricketing world awaits his response to the serious allegations.
