Pakistan white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan said on Saturday that the efforts were underway to find the "best" combination for the forthcoming Champions Trophy slated to be happen next year in Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference ahead of the first ODI against Zimbabwe tomorrow, Rizwan said, “The series against Zimbabwe is important for us, where our purpose will be to try our bench strength.”
“We are looking forward to showing stellar performances against Zimbabwe. It will be a challenging series for us, as our team is comprised of the youngsters.”
He expressed optimism that Pakistan will find the ‘superstars’ for the future.
Speaking about the pitch conditions in Zimbabwe, Rizwan said, “When you plan on the foreign conditions, you have no idea how the pitch will behave.”
“You’ve got to embrace all the challenges as the professionals,” he stated.
He acknowledged the role of Pakistan interim head coach Aaqib Javed, saying, “Aaqib Javed is coaching for a long time. Aaqib Javed is also having an experience of playing in the 1992 World Cup. [Pakistan emerged victorious.]”
Pakistan will take on Zimbabwe in their first ODI tomorrow (Sunday).
