British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak clarified that there are no immediate plans to deploy military instructors to Ukraine.
"What the defence secretary was saying was that it might well be possible one day in the future for us to do some of that training in Ukraine," Sunak told reporters at the start of the governing Conservative Party's annual conference in Manchester.
Sunak said there were no immediate plans to send British troops to Ukraine.
"But that's something for the long term, not the here and now. There are no British soldiers that will be sent to fight in the current conflict."

West at direct war with Russia? UK troops ready to deploy into Ukraine
The UK troops are ready to be deployed into Ukraine for the first time to train soldiers as on-the-ground training efforts pace up between the war torn country and its global allies.
UK's Secretary of State for Defence Grant Shapps in an interview with The Telegraph said he was discussing a plan to mobilize British troops with his military chiefs.
"I was talking today about eventually getting the training brought closer and actually into Ukraine as well. Particularly in the west of the country, I think the opportunity now is to bring more things 'in country'. "I'm keen to see other British companies do their bit as well by doing the same thing. So I think there will be a move to get more training and production in the country."
