Ahmed Baig of Royal Palm Golf Club emerged victorious at the 28th Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Open Golf Championship 2024, held at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC).
The four-day event concluded with a closing ceremony on Sunday, where Baig secured the championship title, while Muhammad Shabbir of Margalla Greens Golf Club finished as the runner-up in the professional category.
The ceremony was graced by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, who served as the chief guest. In his address, Admiral Ashraf praised the efforts of Pakistan Navy, KGC staff, and the event organizers for their seamless execution of the championship.
He also congratulated the winners, acknowledging their exceptional performance and the high standard of play that kept the event thrilling for participants and spectators alike. Additionally, Admiral Ashraf extended his appreciation to the sponsors and media for their continued support in promoting golf and ensuring the successful conduct of the championship.
The championship featured competitions across various categories, including Professionals, Senior Professionals, Junior Professionals, Amateurs, Senior Amateurs, Veterans, Ladies, and Juniors. In the Senior Professionals category, Muhammad Tariq emerged as the winner, while Master Muhammad Ashass claimed victory in the Junior Pro category.
The Amateur category saw Omer Khalid taking the Gross winner title, with Muhammad Zia Hai securing the Net winner position. A special prize, a Toyota Fortuner, was awarded to Muhammad Qasim for his exceptional 'Hole in One' achievement.
Over 600 golfers from across the country participated in this prestigious event, which culminated in a grand prize distribution ceremony. The ceremony was attended by a large number of dignitaries, sponsors, media personnel, and seasoned golfers, marking the end of yet another successful edition of the CNS Open Golf Championship.
