In a dramatic turn of events, Ahsan Shah, the prime suspect in the high-profile murder case of Lahore’s prominent political and business figure, Amir Balaj Tipu, was killed by his own accomplices while in police custody.
The incident occurred late Friday night when Lahore Police were escorting Shah to the Shad Bagh area for evidence recovery.
According to official reports, as the police convoy approached Shad Bagh, a group of Shah’s associates ambushed the officers in a brazen attempt to free him.
The police personnel managed to escape unharmed, but Ahsan Shah sustained severe injuries in the crossfire. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Ahsan Shah had been arrested several months earlier in connection with the February 19, 2024, murder of his close friend, Amir Balaj Tipu.
The incident took place during a wedding ceremony, where Tipu was shot dead. The gunfire also injured two other individuals, while one of the attackers, Muzaffar Hussain, was killed on the spot by Tipu’s security team.
The murder case, filed by Amir Balaj's brother, Amir Musab, named Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, alias Teefi Butt, his cousin Khawaja Aqeel, and four unidentified individuals as suspects.
The death of Ahsan Shah, the primary accused, adds a new layer of complexity to the investigation, leaving law enforcement agencies to piece together the motives behind this latest violent episode.
