Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif said on Thursday that it was vital to focus on grassroots cricket for the uplift.
Expressing his thoughts, Latif rued: "There is no infrastructure of sports in the country, and the players are putting merely their own efforts to uplift.".
"The ground that has produced Shoaib Akhtar has now closed. During our times, there were 12 grounds nearby. The ground that gave us seven captains from Lahore has now converted to road," Latif said.
Speaking about the data analysts working at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he stated: "The data analyst working at the PCB is a civil engineer."
"There are a lack of cricket grounds in the country," Latif said.
