The district administration of Lahore has issued a new notification announcing an increase in the prices of several essential food items, including lentils, black gram, and besan, while reducing the prices of certain rice varieties and daal masoor by Rs25 per kilo.
According to the official price list, the cost of daal chana, black gram, and besan has seen a significant rise up to Rs55 per kilogramme.
The price of daal chana has been increased from Rs280 to Rs330 per kg, while the price of dal chana special has been raised from Rs305 to Rs360 per kilogram. Black gram has also seen an increase of Rs40, with prices rising from Rs305 to Rs345 per kilogram. Besan, another staple, has been hiked by Rs40 from Rs300 to Rs340 per kilogram.
In contrast, there has been a reduction in the prices of certain other commodities. The price of basmati rice has been reduced by Rs10, now set at Rs260 per kilogram, down from Rs270. Similarly, the price of daal masoor has been decreased by Rs25, bringing it down to Rs265 per kilogram from the previous Rs290. The price of white gram remains unchanged at Rs310 per kilogram.
The notification, issued by the deputy commissioner of Lahore, reflects the district administration’s decision to adjust prices in response to market conditions. The price increases are likely to impact household budgets, particularly for those reliant on these essential commodities for daily meals.
