On this day in 1965, Pakistani forces captured the strategically important Jourian sector. Marking a significant victory on the fifth day of the war with India. Following intense overnight battles, Pakistani troops successfully pushed Indian forces back 18 miles from Jourian and 3 miles from Akhnoor.
President Ayub Khan congratulated the army on their unprecedented achievements in the Jourian area and directed them to continue their offensive against the enemy.
In other developments, Pakistani forces launched attacks on several locations in occupied Kashmir, reportedly resulting in over 50 Indian soldiers killed and many more wounded.
