Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has declared food adulteration a non-bailable offence under newly amended laws.
Punjab Food Authority Director General Asim Javed chaired the meeting and announced the verdict.
Asim Javed, who also serves as the Registrar of the Punjab Halal Development Agency, emphasized the importance of obtaining a Halal certificate for all food products.
Under the revised regulations, it is now mandatory for every food item to carry a Halal certificate, with the Halal logo clearly affixed to the finished product. Failure to comply will result in action under Article 17, which mandates strict penalties, including the closure of businesses for up to six months for repeated violations.
"The Punjab government has prepared recommendations for the establishment of the Punjab Halal Development Agency, which will further ensure the enforcement of these measures," said Asim Javed.
He reiterated the commitment to maintaining food safety, warning that strict legal actions will be taken, including the registration of non-bailable cases against those involved in food adulteration.
