The 15th meeting of the Punjab provincial cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, approved several major projects including "Apna Chhat, Apna Ghar" housing initiative, the CM Green Tractor Program, and the Children's Heart Surgery Program.
Punjab Arms Ordinance 1965
The ordinance was amended to make offenses related to illegal arms and manufacturing non-bailable, with punishments ranging from 3 to 5 years of imprisonment and fines up to 7 lakh rupees.
Kite Flying Ordinance 2001
Penalties were increased under this law, with imprisonment of 2 to 5 years and fines for those involved in kite flying and its related activities.
Apna Chhat, Apna Ghar
The chief minister approved the housing loan initiative, enabling citizens to acquire home loans using only a plot ownership document and a copy of their identity card.
Loans of up to Rs1.5 million will require a monthly installment of Rs14,000 over 9 years. The program is being structured as a revolving fund to ensure no additional charges are levied on the public.
The cabinet also approved the unformed design of the housing project.
Green Tractor Program
The Cabinet approved the distribution of 9,500 tractors, offering a subsidy of one million rupees per tractor to landowners with up to 50 acres. The first draw will be held between September 20 and October 20, with a goal of distributing 30,000 tractors to Punjab farmers.
Children’s Heart Surgery Program
Punjab chief executive Maryam Nawaz directed the clearance of 12,000 pending heart surgeries for children and instructed the health minister to monitor the program closely. She also proposed inviting international surgeons to assist.
In a commendation, the Cabinet praised the Chief Minister’s efforts in launching the critical initiative.
The Cabinet approved the establishment of Punjab’s first provincial life insurance company.
