Pakistan has made a significant leap in the latest United Nations e-Governance ranking, moving up 14 places to secure the 136th position in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI).
Previously the country’s ranking was at 150 in 2022, reflecting substantial progress in its e-governance capabilities.
For the first time, Pakistan has been included in the top rankings of the EGDI.
In addition to the overall improvement, Pakistan has also advanced in the E-Participation Index, reaching the 88th position.
Just two years ago, the country was ranked 106th in this index, and its e-participation value has increased from 0.36 to 0.49.
Minister of State Shaza Fatima acknowledged the significant efforts made by the Prime Minister to strengthen e-government infrastructure, highlighting the pivotal role played by the Ministry of IT and the National IT Board in driving these advancements. She praised the government's commitment to modernizing public services and increasing citizen engagement through technology.
Pakistan's rise in both the EGDI and E-Participation Index signals an ongoing transformation in the way government services are delivered.
The improvement in rankings underscores the country’s focus on enhancing digital accessibility, transparency, and citizen participation in governance.
