At least 19 people died and 12 were injured in a coal mine blast caused by a gas explosion in Iran's South Khorasan Province, Iran's state television said on Sunday, with 30 people still stuck in the mine.
The accident was caused by a methane gas explosion in blocks B and C of the mine run by the Madanjoo company, state TV said.
The total number of workers in the blocks at the time of the explosion was 69, it said.
Iranian state media said the explosion occurred on Saturday at 9 p.m. (1730 GMT).
Another 70 people were reported to be trapped in the mine. The explosion took place at around 9pm local time on Saturday.
The explosion was reportedly caused by a methane gas explosion in blocks B and C of the mine run by the Madanjoo company.
