Amid rising concerns over potential terrorism threats, the deputy commissioner of Swat has issued an alert, urging the postponement of all public gatherings to ensure public safety.
The alert comes in the wake of a planned peace march by the Swat Qaumi Jirga after Jummah prayers. The jirga has announced to go ahead with the march, emphasising that no one will be allowed to foster artificial terrorism in the region.
The peace march is set to take place at Nishat Chowk, Mingora, at 2pm, with extraordinary security arrangements being made by the local police to safeguard participants.
All major political parties, lawyers, the business community, and civil society members have backed the peace march, confirming their participation in the event.
The Swat Qaumi Jirga has rejected the deputy commissioner's threat alert, and are preparing to hold the march. Community leaders have called for unity and peace in the face of unrest.
