The Foreign Office has stated that it is the duty of the host country to ensure security for the Pakistani national cricket team amid terror threats during the ongoing World Cup being hosted by India.
In her weekly briefing, FO spokesperson said Pakistan is in touch with India regarding visas for cricket fans and hope Pakistanis will be issued visas for the World Cup.
India is constantly indulging in propaganda against Pakistan while being itself involved in terrorism activities in the country, she remarked.
She also suggested India not mix politics and sports, adding New Delhi should not create hurdles for Pakistani cricket fans in watching the World Cup.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch further said the election commission was in touch with the Foreign Office regarding inviting objective election observers to the country.
She also dismissed the reports of closure of Afghan transit trade and said it was continuing. Pakistan is taking steps to counter the illegal use of the trade activity, the spokesperson said.
She further said that the deadline for operation against illegal immigrants in Pakistan depended on their number and the steps taken.
As per reports in the Indian media, authorities have beefed up security measures amid terror threats to Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
The reports claim that the latest security measures include deployment of over 3,000 police personnel in and around the venue that will also host the much-awaited Pakistan-India clash, and the final.
Moreover, spectators will not be allowed to carry anything inside the stadium other than their mobile phones. The roads leading to the stadium will remain closed during the matches.
