A bizarre burglary in Monmouthshire, Wales, has landed Damian Wojnilowicz, 36, in jail for 22 months after he broke into a woman’s home, completed household chores, and cooked a meal before leaving a creepy note.
According to a BBC report, the unnamed woman discovered that her belongings had been moved around while she was away. Wojnilowicz’s strange actions included hanging out her washed clothes, putting away her groceries, replacing toothbrush heads, and even mopping the floor.
He also unpacked new utensils, rearranged the contents of her fridge, and refilled bird feeders, disposing of packaging neatly in the recycling bin.
Before leaving, Wojnilowicz prepared a meal using ingredients from her cupboard and left a note saying, “Don’t worry, be happy, eat up and scratch.” The incident left the woman shaken, prompting her to stay with a friend out of fear and anxiety.
In a personal statement, she revealed the intense stress she experienced in the two weeks following the break-in, fearing she might have been targeted or stalked.
Wojnilowicz was eventually arrested after committing another burglary on July 29 at a male homeowner’s property, where he used the man's hot tub, washed his clothes, and consumed his food. After pleading guilty to both burglaries, he was sentenced to 22 months in prison on Thursday.
