The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has completely sealed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) House in Islamabad after disclosure of illegal constructions inside, violations of building regulations and the expiration of its lease.
The CDA's action was carried out under the supervision of Special Magistrate Sardar Asif and Assistant Commissioner Abdullah.
The authorities earlier issued a notice to the families residing in the family block to vacate the premises within 24 hours. "Vacate KP House in 24 hours otherwise action will be taken," CDA officials declared, adding that the blocks were sealed for violation of building rules.
After sealing the KP House, the CDA staff left from the scene, while a large number of Islamabad police personnel were present outside.
The CDA spokesperson confirmed that the lease of KP House had expired in June 2006, and despite multiple notices sent in February and June of this year, the KP government failed to submit the required No-Objection Certificate (NOC). The spokesperson emphasized that the decision to seal the blocks was made after repeated attempts to gain cooperation from KP House authorities were ignored.
The CDA team had earlier arrived at the premises and began sealing the illegal portions of KP House, which included two residential units. Islamabad police were deployed outside the building to maintain order during the operation.
