The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed recomposition of the men’s national selection committee. It now includes Aleem Dar, Aqib Javed, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali and Hasan Cheema as voting members.
Earlier, significant changes were expected to the national cricket team's selection committee, with several prominent former cricketers set to be included in the revamped line-up.
After Muhammad Yousaf, new individuals were reported to be made part of the selection committee.
Sources had said that Aqib Javed, Azhar Ali, and Aleem Dar were among the new names likely to be included in the selection committee. Hasan Cheema and former Test cricketer Asad Shafiq wee also expected to join.
Former cricketer Aqib Javed was rumoured to be given the role of convener, overseeing the operations and decision-making of the committee. In addition to the selection committee, Azhar Ali was also expected be appointed as the head of youth development.
As part of the new structure, both the head coach and the team captain were expected to have a place on the selection committee.
The outgoing selection committee, which consisted of eight members, included three selectors with voting rights and five members without voting rights. The PCB is now moving towards a more streamlined and collaborative approach with the new committee.
