Amid discussions about resting Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman has voiced concern drawing comparisons with India’s handling of Virat Kohli during his form slump between 2020 and 2023.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Fakhar said during that period, Kohli averaged 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50, yet was never benched by the Indian team.
Fakhar said sidelining Babar, who is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s best-ever batsmen, could send a negative message to the team. Instead of panicking, they suggest focusing on supporting key players like Babar to help them regain form, rather than undermining their confidence.
The cricket community urges patience and a more measured approach to ensure Pakistan’s top talent is safeguarded during tough phases.
