Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Sunday that the government wants to take JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on board over the constitutional amendment.
Expressing his thoughts in the wee hours, Asif said: "We do not need to extend further time over the matter. We will table the constitutional amendment bill today both in the National Assembly and Senate.""
"If no consensus is reached on the constitutional amendment, then we will pass our initial draft," he said.
Speaking about the embattled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Asif said: "Why do we have to take dictation from the PTI?"
"We want the tabling of the constitutional amendment in the parliament through consensus,"he maintained.
