Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari said on Thursday that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will soon allocate the Ravi Urban Development Authority (Ruda) plots to the journalists.
Expressing her thoughts at the Lahore Press Club's "Meet the Press" event, Bokhari expressed her commitment to the journalist community, saying, “I have decided to address you as my brothers and sisters. When we protested outside this press club in harsh weather, I thought about what I could do for you.”
Bokhari highlighted the proactive approach of the chief minister, noting, “Maryam Nawaz is doing significant work in under a year, with 80 different projects initiated—efforts that previous governments have struggled to accomplish over five years.”
She stated, “We held a meeting regarding the F-Block today. Some journalists did not receive their plots, but I aim to address this issue.” Bokhari affirmed her dedication by stating, “Despite the challenges, I have worked hard for the plots of media workers who stand behind the cameras.”
Furthermore, she mentioned upcoming initiatives: “Applications for this new scheme will be sought soon, and I have brought a letter for the demarcation of F-Block today.”
Bokhari reiterated her belief in service, stating, “My chief minister believes in work and service. The Punjab government has implemented many initiatives for farmers, providing subsidies on agricultural tools.”
At the event, Press Club President Arshad Ansari welcomed Bokhari, saying, “Azma Bokhari is not just a minister to us, but like a sister. Her dedication to journalist rights is unmatched.”
Bokhari concluded her address with a pledge, saying, “I stand with all journalists and will ensure that minimum wage awards are implemented, requesting media owners to not delay salaries.”
At the conclusion of a recent event, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari presented honorary membership and a souvenir to Bokhari at the Lahore Press Club. The ceremony included the presentation of a club card and flowers to the minister.
Ansari also commended the efforts of the Solar System Committee, led by Secretary Zahid Abid, which included Finance Secretary Salik Nawaz, former secretary Zulfikar Ali Mehto, former governing body member Syed Jawad Ali Rizvi, and Council member Abdul Qadir Madni.
Each member received honorary shields in recognition of their contributions towards the installation of a solar system at the club.
