The Lahore Division Commissioner clarified that all educational institutions, markets, and offices remained open in Lahore.
In a tweet, the top bureaucrat of Lahore said: “Tomorrow, Wednesday, all educational institutions, markets and offices will open as usual. The proposal for the Wednesday holiday to combat smog will be implemented next week after the approval of the Punjab government. The news of tomorrow's holiday is not correct. The government will do. Earlier it was announced that all private and government schools along with markets would remain closed on Wednesday until further notice, said officials.
the decision was taken in an effort to combat the alarming levels of smog and air pollution that have blanketed the provincial capital in recent days.
During the meeting, it was collectively decided to close schools, markets, government, and private institutions every Wednesday “until further notice”.
Effective immediately, Lahore will witness a full shutdown every Wednesday from October 18.
