Jirga imposes restrictions to curb turmoil
In response to escalating unrest in the region, the Bajaur Peace Jirga has announced strict measures, including a ban on unnecessary movement after 9 p.m.
The decision, aimed at restoring peace, comes after a series of incidents that have heightened tensions in the area.
According to the jirga's announcement, if someone is killed after 9 p.m., their blood will be considered forgiven, and the police will not register a First Information Report (FIR). “This decision had to be taken due to the severe unrest,” said the organizers.
The jirga has also mandated that anyone needing to travel to another village after the curfew time must inform the relevant parties beforehand. “We cannot afford further unrest in Bajaur,” the organizers emphasized.
To further solidify peace efforts, a larger jirga involving political and tribal leaders from the Malakand division will convene on December 8 at Wadudi Hall.
The meeting is expected to discuss and implement broader measures to ensure stability in the region.
The controversial decisions have sparked debates, with many viewing them as necessary for peace, while others question their legal and ethical implications.
The situation in Bajaur remains critical as local leaders strive to address ongoing challenges.
