A baseless propaganda campaign initiated by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding a man named Tahir Abbas has been exposed, with security sources confirming the facts behind the incident.
A video circulating on social media shows a man falling from a container during a recent PTI protest in Islamabad. Using this footage, PTI claimed that the individual had died, fueling what security sources have termed “fake propaganda.” However, investigations have revealed that the man in question, identified as 38-year-old Tahir Abbas, is alive and recovering.
Tahir Abbas, the son of Faiz Ahmed and a resident of Tehsil Phalia in Mandi Bahauddin District, sustained injuries from the fall and is currently at his brother-in-law’s house in Rawalpindi after receiving initial treatment at a hospital.
According to technical investigations, Tahir Abbas had switched off his phone and was using another number, which initially made it challenging to trace him. Using the IMEI number of his device, authorities located him in Rawalpindi.
Tahir Abbas is reportedly a farmer and a visa agent who traveled to Islamabad on November 21, 2024, for visa-related purposes. He later joined the PTI protest, during which the incident occurred.
Further inquiries revealed that Tahir Abbas is a PTI worker and has ties to PTI MPA Bisma Riaz Chaudhry from PP-41. Interestingly, sources disclosed that Abbas was formerly affiliated with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) before switching allegiance to PTI.
Security officials have clarified that claims regarding his death are entirely false. Abbas’s family has also confirmed his condition and current whereabouts. Authorities are continuing to investigate his activities and his connection to the PTI protest.
