In a major step towards enhancing wheat production and ensuring food security, the Sindh government has partnered with Switzerland-based agricultural technology firm, Syngenta, to launch a free herbicide distribution program.
This initiative, aligned with the Special Investment Facilitation Council's (SIFC) agricultural objectives, aims to provide free herbicides to 15,000 farmers. The program targets cultivating 45,000 acres of wheat, ensuring higher yields and sustainable agricultural practices.
The program's primary goal is to empower farmers by reducing the cost of production and promoting the effective use of herbicides to maximize wheat output. By introducing modern herbicides, the initiative seeks to improve crop quality and significantly contribute to Pakistan's food security goals.
The farmers will be equipped with the latest tools and knowledge to manage weeds more efficiently, resulting in better crop health and profitability.
Sindh’s farmers will receive support to lower production costs, tackle cultivation challenges, and improve their livelihoods. This herbicide program is a key part of a comprehensive strategy to address wheat farming challenges, boost economic growth, and encourage agricultural investments.
With this collaborative effort, the Sindh government and Syngenta are fostering sustainable farming and paving the way for food self-reliance in Pakistan. The program promises not just to improve wheat production but also to enhance the overall well-being of farmers while contributing to the nation’s economy.
