A magnitude 5.1 earthquake has struck Pakistan's Swat district and adjacent areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, sending residents fleeing from their homes and buildings.
Officials report no casualties or significant damage so far across the province. According to the seismological centre, the epicentre was located in the border region between Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan.
The tremors caused panic among local residents, who rushed out of buildings as a precautionary measure.
In a separate incident earlier, the Zhob district of Balochistan province experienced an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale. The seismological centre reported that the earthquake's depth was 22 kilometres, with its epicentre located 12 kilometres west of Zhob.
The region lies in a seismically active zone where earthquakes are relatively common.
