The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), established by the federal government, had summoned 15 additional members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over allegations of spreading negative propaganda on social media.
The summons had been issued to the prominent PTI figures including Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Syed Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Mohammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, Mian Mohammad Aslam Iqbal, Mohammad Hamad Azhar, Aoun Abbas, Aliya Hamza Malik, Mohammad Shahbaz Shabbir, Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Taimoor Saleem Khan, Asad Qaiser and Shah Farman.
Sources had confirmed that the JIT possessed substantial evidence for questioning these individuals.
The investigation was expected to focus on alleged anti-state propaganda activities by the PTI members.
The JIT had notified these individuals through official notices, requesting their presence on 7th March 2025 at 12:00 PM before the investigation team.
The JIT had been led by the Inspector General of Police, Islamabad, and aimed to recommend legal action against those involved, in accordance with the law. In the notices, the individuals had been cautioned to clarify their position regarding the matter.
Prior to this, the JIT had also issued summonses to 10 members of the PTI social media team for similar investigations.
