The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle arrested two people in Karachi for smuggling and selling stolen mobile phones.
The FIA spokesperson said that the agency is taking action against smuggling and illegal purchase of dollars.
The suspects, who have not been named, were arrested during a raid on Saddar Electronics Market in Karachi.
The official said they seized 250 mobile phones worth more than Rs10 million.
He added that IMEI numbers of smuggled and stolen mobile phones were often changed using sophisticated software purchased from abroad, they added.
The official said that they also recovered data of phone numbers already registered in the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) system.
Through forgery, the suspects incurred a loss of over Rs50 million to the regulatory authority.
The FIA has registered a case against the suspects and has started an investigation.
