The Sindh government has declared a public holiday for all educational institutions across the province on Saturday, March 22, in observance of Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (A.S), according to a notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department (SELD) on Tuesday.
The notification states that all public and private schools and colleges will remain closed on the 21st of Ramadan. The decision was taken during a Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education held on November 28, 2024.
The directive, also shared on the department’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, confirms that the holiday will apply to all institutions operating under the administrative control of the Sindh government.
Youm-e-Hazrat Ali (A.S) marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (A.S), the fourth caliph of Islam and a significant figure in Islamic history. The day is observed with religious gatherings and special prayers across the country.
Meanwhile, normal academic activities are expected to resume on Monday, March 24.
