The federal government on Wednesday announced a three-day public holiday on the occasion of Eidul Fitr 2025.
As per the notification, the Eid holidays will commence on Monday, March 31, and continue until Wednesday, April 2.
Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to meet on March 30
The people of Pakistan are expected to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on March 31 (Monday), as per astronomical predictions. According to details, the Shawwal moon will be visible at 3:58 pm on March 29.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold meetings on March 29 and March 30 to determine the sighting of the moon, which is expected to be 27 hours old at the time of observation.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the moon will remain visible for up to an hour, making its sighting possible on March 30. Consequently, the first day of Shawwal will be observed on March 31.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has predicted hot weather in Karachi during the Eid holidays, with temperatures expected to reach up to 37 degrees Celsius. Due to moisture in the air, the city is likely to experience scorching heat during the festive period.
Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramazan, is one of the most significant religious festivals in Pakistan, with millions traveling across the country to reunite with loved ones.
