A group of Pakistani vloggers, including Haider Mehdi, Adil Raja, Ahmad Noorani, Moeed Pirzada, and Shahbaz Gill, have come under scrutiny for opposing unity and dialogue within Pakistan's political landscape.
These individuals are attempting to prolong political instability by targeting overseas Pakistanis engaged in reconciliation efforts.โ
Central to the controversy is Tanweer Ahmed, a US-based Pakistani philanthropist renowned for his significant contributions to Pakistan's development. Ahmed has been honoured with awards for his extensive charitable work, including a $9 million donation to a university to support underprivileged students, assistance to flood victims, and the establishment of a free dialysis center in Sialkot. โ
Haider Mehdi, Wajahat Saeed Khan, Adil Raja & others are financially benefiting from Pakistan’s turmoil. Who is earning from vlogs amid this crisis? Once stability returns & Imran gets bail, who will suffer losses? It’s time to recognize and condemn those exploiting chaos for… pic.twitter.com/7qiAmcucQj

Reports suggest that vloggers Haider Mehdi and Adil Raja leaked information about a meeting between Tanweer Ahmed and expatriate Pakistani doctors, and the director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI). The purported intent behind this leak was to hinder the release of former prime minister Imran Khan and to prolong political unrest in the country. Furthermore, allegations have surfaced accusing Tanweer Ahmed of engaging with the DG ISI solely for personal business interests, despite his established record of philanthropy and non-commercial involvement in Pakistan.โ
Tanweer Ahmed has a record of unwavering commitment to Pakistan's welfare, citing his numerous charitable initiatives. Notably, Ahmed donated a 50 lakh cheque to the family of Sadaf Naeem, a private TV channel reporter who tragically lost her life during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azadi March in 2022.
His philanthropic efforts extend to donating $9 million to a university for scholarships benefiting approximately 200 underprivileged students annually, the construction of a girls' college, and the establishment of a dialysis centre in his native village in Sialkot.
Despite his close associations with political figures, including Imran Khan and the PTI, Ahmed has reportedly not sought any personal favours, reinforcing his image as a genuine well-wisher of Pakistan.โ
Critics argue that the actions of these vloggers undermine efforts toward political reconciliation and stability in Pakistan. By allegedly discrediting individuals like Tanweer Ahmed and overseas Pakistani doctors, who are actively working to bridge divides and promote unity, such actions may exacerbate existing tensions and hinder the nation's progress toward peace and cohesion.
