Apple fans are eagerly awaiting the iPhone 17 series, which is expected to launch in September 2025.
The new lineup is anticipated to bring notable upgrades over the previous iPhone 16 models, with four distinct versions likely to be introduced: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Interestingly, Apple will be phasing out the Plus variant.
iPhone 17 design and display
The iPhone 17 will likely retain the familiar vertical dual-camera design of the iPhone 16 but may feature a slightly larger display, possibly expanding to 6.3 inches, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro. A key upgrade could be the introduction of a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate for the standard iPhone 17 model, a feature previously available only in the Pro versions. Additionally, Apple may enhance the durability of the device with an anti-reflective, scratch-resistant coating.
Specifications and performance
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 is expected to be powered by Apple’s next-generation A19 chip, built on an improved 3nm process. It will likely feature 8GB of RAM and maintain similar battery capacity, though the new chipset should bring improved power efficiency, optimizing performance while maintaining battery life.
Camera upgrades
One of the standout features of the iPhone 17 could be the 24MP selfie camera, marking a significant upgrade over the 12MP sensor seen in the iPhone 16. The rear camera system is likely to remain the same, featuring a 48MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens.
Colours and pricing
Leaked reports suggest the iPhone 17 will be available in white, black, blue, and pink colors, with possible new shades closer to launch. As for pricing, the base model is expected to start at $799 in the United States, staying in line with the iPhone 16’s price point.
iPhone 17 launch date
As with previous iPhone releases, Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, likely between September 11-13.
