Punjab government has decided to legislate for the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Treatment and Research Institute.
The provincial health department has prepared a draft of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Treatment and Research Institute Act, outlining key operational and administrative details.
According to the draft, the hospital will be governed by a 13-member board led by the chief minister of Punjab. It also states that underprivileged patients will receive free cancer treatment, while others will have access to treatment through partial or full payment options.
The draft further specifies that employees recruited at the hospital will not be classified as government employees. Additionally, the hospital will be allowed to raise funds through donations to manage its financial affairs.
The proposed structure of the institute will include a Chairman, a Dean, an Administrator, and Directors for Nursing and Finance.
The act will be presented in the Punjab Assembly for approval.
