Pakistan Academy of Letters has announced the prestigious Kamal-e-Fun and National Literary Awards in a press conference held by Chairperson Dr. Najiba Arif.
For 2024, the eminent poet Iftikhar Arif has been honored with the 2023 Kamal-e-Fun Award in recognition of his lifetime contributions to literature.
Dr. Najiba Arif revealed that the Kamal-e-Fun Award, established by the Academy in 1997, is the country's most significant literary accolade, carrying a cash prize of one million rupees. The award is presented annually to a distinguished literary figure in acknowledgment of their lifelong service to the world of letters.
In addition to the Kamal-e-Fun Award, the Academy also conferred awards on the best literary works in several regional languages, including Urdu, Punjabi, Saraiki, Pashto, Sindhi, Brahvi, and Hindko. These honors not only celebrate individual excellence but also underscore the rich linguistic diversity and cultural heritage of Pakistan's literary landscape.
