The bustling center of currency exchange in Peshawar, Chowk Yadgar, remained closed for the second consecutive day.
On Thursday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had launched a crackdown against on illicit currency exchange activities involving foreign currencies and dollars.
Following the crackdown, citizens flock to registered currency exchange centers due to the closure of unregulated currency exchange shops.
Concern about the FIA’s strict actions against unauthorized exchanges of foreign currencies and dollars is developing among currency merchants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region.
With the closure of unauthorised currency exchange outlets, citizens are left with no choice but to visit registered exchange centers to fulfill their currency needs.
The FIA representatives have taken note of the situation and have warned the plaza owners and as an indication that the government is committed to putting a stop to illicit currency trading, the decision has been made to shut any whole plaza discovered to be home to illegal currency exchange shops.
