The Met Department has issued a heatwave forecast for Karachi, warning that the port city may experience extremely hot weather conditions starting from Sunday.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are expected to rise sharply, possibly exceeding 40 degrees Celsius by Sunday. The department has advised citizens to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
“A heatwave-like situation is expected in Karachi next week. The temperature may rise significantly from Sunday onwards,” said a spokesperson of the Meteorological Department.
One of the key concerns is the high humidity level, which is making the weather feel even hotter than the actual temperature. As per the department’s data, the humidity ratio stands at 80% in the morning and drops to about 55% by evening, intensifying the discomfort for residents.
The Met Department deputy director stated that the combination of rising temperatures and persistent humidity is likely to make the heat feel more severe than usual.

Authorities are urging people to stay indoors during peak hours, remain hydrated, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, especially from noon to late afternoon.
On April 13, the Met Department had issued a warning for an intense heatwave affecting various regions of the country, particularly Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan.
Those areas were expected to experience temperatures significantly higher than usual, with daytime temperatures predicted to rise by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above the normal levels.
The department had further indicated that from April 18 onwards, temperatures in Islamabad, central and upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to climb by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius. Along with the rise in temperatures, gusty winds are also likely to occur, exacerbating the already sweltering conditions.
