Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday chaired a high-level review meeting focused on the advancement of the IT and telecom sectors, emphasising the government's commitment to increasing the country’s IT exports and modernizing digital education.
During the meeting, the prime minister declared that boosting IT exports remains one of the top priorities of his administration. He stressed the importance of early exposure to digital skills and directed relevant authorities to introduce Information Technology as a subject from the sixth grade across the country.
“Our aim is to ensure that our youth receive world-class IT training so they can secure quality jobs both in Pakistan and internationally,” said the PM.
The meeting included detailed briefings on current training programs and digital initiatives. Shehbaz instructed that IT education and training should begin in schools, colleges, and research institutions without delay. The premier also highlighted the need for coordination with provincial governments to implement a uniform and standardised IT curriculum nationwide.
Officials informed the PM that under the 'School Broadband Connectivity Project', internet services are being upgraded in Islamabad schools to facilitate digital learning.
PM Shehbaz emphasised that IT education should not only be theoretical but also skill-based, enabling students to become competitive in the global tech industry.
