The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced the cancellation of all Saturday and Sunday holidays for its staff in light of a flash flood advisory issued across the province.
The decision comes as heavy rains and a strong westerly weather system are expected to impact parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today, increasing the risk of flash floods, particularly in low-lying areas and near rivers and tributaries, including the Kabul River.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, all officers and staff have been instructed to remain on duty throughout the weekend to ensure a timely and effective emergency response. The authority's emergency operations center will remain fully operational on both days to monitor the evolving situation closely.

"All our efforts are focused on safeguarding public life and property," the PDMA stated. "The situation requires full preparedness, and no compromise will be made on response time."
Earlier, PDMA issued a high-alert warning and directed all relevant departments, including Rescue 1122 and Civil Defense, to stay vigilant and ready for any emergencies that may arise due to flash flooding.
According to PDMA, a strong westerly wind system is expected to enter upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by tonight, significantly increasing the risk of flash floods, particularly in low-lying and riverine areas.
